Best items for a yoga or meditation space.

It doesn't matter whether you have been practicing yoga and meditation your whole life or if you are at the very beginning of your journey, there are a few actions that you can take every day to have the best experience possible.

The first, is creating a safe space. Surround yourself with items that are calming and promote focus.

Then determine whether or not you would like to begin seated, standing or laying on your back. Finding what is most comfortable for you is important.

And third, set a time limit. If it if your first meditation practice 5 minutes may feel like a very long time. So starting short is okay. You will be surprised just how much a few minutes can begin to shift your whole day.

When it comes to your practice space and feeling comfortable, inspired and centered I have a few key "must-haves" that I have found to make my practice fulfilling and elevated. I have also added links to each of the items I personally recommend and am happy to answer any questions you may have, just comment below!

  1. A high quality yoga mat. If you prefer to meditate from the ground, this is especially useful as having a comfortable, yet still firm foundation is really nice. This Aurorae Mat is a great start, and is usually around $40 from Amazon.

  2. I absolutely love a nice essential oil diffuser or cool air humidifier for my space. It really elevates the experience by engaging other senses. The best part is that you don't necessarily need a super fancy one especially if you are just starting out, and in most cases I do think that simpler is just better. Here are two that I highly recommend and both are super affordable depending on what type of space and experience you are looking for. 500ml Essential Oil Diffuser Urpower and the Levoit 6 liter cool mist humidifier & essential oil diffuser, this one also comes with a smart app to adjust from your phone which is really nice sometimes.

  3. Essential Oils are a game changer! Using oils like Frankincense, Lavender, Clary Sage and Sandalwood will lead to more centeredness and assist you in staying present. I will be talking more about specific blends of essential oils as well as more about what each one can do for you in a future blog post as well.

I understand that this list isn't super extensive and packed with a million suggestions, but when starting out, simple is a great place to start and these 3 items will truly help you reach your best meditation and yoga potential.
